Players’ production selected as 2019 Michigan Thespian Festival main stage production

The University Liggett School Players production of 12 Angry Jurors was selected as one of two full-length productions that will be featured at the Michigan Thespian Festival (MiFest).

The Michigan Educational Theater Association state festival will be held in Detroit for the first time in the organization’s history. This year the organization selected two full-length productions that will be featured on the main stage. This year, nine shows were nominated for two slots. 12 Angry Jurors was selected for the Saturday main stage performance.

The Michigan Thespian Festival will be December 13 and 14 at the Renaissance Center. During the two-day festival, more than 1,500 students and their directors see multiple shows, choose from more than 200 workshops, compete in their choice of 18 different theatre-specific individual events, audition for scholarships from colleges and universities and mingle with industry professionals.

“It’s an extremely exciting weekend in which students and educators from across the state can share their common love for the theatre arts. The festival also allows the students and directors the chance to network, attend workshops, and gain valuable practical information on how to improve their theatre programs,” said Dr. Phill Moss, Creative and Performing Arts Department Chair at University Liggett School.
