Student magazine wins highest honor for Recognizing Excellence in Art and Literary Magazines (REALM) contest

Lambrequin from University Liggett School, has been recognized as a REALM First Class magazine by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE). REALM First Class is the highest distinction offered by the NCTE for school literary magazines.

This year, schools in 46 states and five countries nominated 375 student magazines. Magazines from middle school, high school, and higher education were welcomed for the 2023 contest.

“I am elated that Lambrequin has been bestowed with the prestigious REALM First Class award. This marks a historic moment for Lambrequin as it secures its first-ever highest honor in the literary realm. I am so proud of our dedicated student contributors and the tireless efforts of our editors who have poured their time and passion into crafting Lambrequin into an extraordinary literary magazine," said Elizabeth Wagenschutz, Lambrequin faculty advisor.

The REALM program publicly recognizes excellent literary magazines produced by students with the support of their teachers. REALM is designed to encourage all schools to develop literary magazines that celebrate the art and craft of writing. Schools in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, US territories, Canada, and American schools abroad are eligible to nominate magazines.
