Students gain a deeper understanding of and connection to the world we live in

University Liggett School Lower School Science Faculty, Maedah Puurabi, shares in this podcast how she is making sure her students have a deeper understanding of and connection to the world we live in, with each lesson she teaches.

Maedah integrates the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), from the United Nations, into her lessons. SDGs are designed to provide a blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future globally.

By doing this, even some of our younger students are gaining an appreciation of the actions each of us can take to contribute to a healthier, happier planet. By learning about issues facing different regions of the world (and ours), it helps them to build on scientific concepts, develop empathy, and feel that they have agency to make a difference in small ways.
