University Liggett School hires coaches for spring season

University Liggett School is pleased to announce the following additions to our spring Upper School coaching staff:

Mathew Alessandrini has been named head varsity softball coach. Alessandrini joins ULS after being the assistant varsity softball coach at Fraser High School for the past three years. Prior to that, he spent three years at Sterling Heights Stevenson as the head junior varsity softball coach.

Alessandrini began his coaching career with the Michigan Batbusters Softball Organization. He currently is a hitting instructor at Macomb Batting Cages and coaches the MBC Phantoms organization.

“I embrace the multi-sport athlete principle that is encouraged at Liggett,” Alessandrini said. “I encourage all student-athletes on my teams to participate in as many areas or school community events as possible.”

Morgan Warner has been named head girls’ varsity tennis coach. Warner has been an assistant tennis coach at ULS since 2020, and last season was promoted to co-head coach midseason. Warner is the Director of Tennis at Eastside Tennis and Fitness Club and also is the JV boys’ tennis coach at Grosse Pointe South High School. He has a Professional Tennis Management degree from Ferris State University.

Returning head varsity coaches include Dan Cimini, baseball (since 2006), Dan Sullivan, golf (since 2007), David Dwaihy, girls’ soccer (since 2009), Jennifer Larson, girls’ lacrosse (since 2016), Mike Costanzo, boys’ lacrosse (since 2016), and Melvin Moss, track & field ( since 2019).
