Actor Mia Serafino ‘07 named 2025 Alumni Arts Hall of Fame Honoree
The arts have always played a big part in the life of Mia Serafino ’07, and she credits her time at ULS for helping her prepare for a career as an actor. In celebration of her work, Serafino has been named the 2025 ULS Alumni Arts Hall of Fame honoree.
For Serafino, her induction is a full circle moment. “ULS is such a special place, and I’m thrilled to receive this honor,” Serafino said. “My time there taught me how to analyze and understand a text, and that’s something I’ve carried with me throughout my career.”
After graduating from ULS, Serafino studied musical theater at Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of the Performing Arts. During college, she returned to Michigan and worked on a few bigger films, including Real Steel, starring Hugh Jackman. That led to opportunities on the sets of Oz: The Great and Powerful and Saving Mr. Banks, and eventually to a full-time career in Hollywood.
Serafino has worked steadily since then, including most recently a role on the award-winning Netflix show Beef. She was also a series regular on NBC’s sitcom Crowded and was featured in the show Shameless. She has also found an acting and writing community filled with people who truly have a passion for acting.
While she is honored to be inducted into the ULS Alumni Arts Hall of Fame, Serafino is most excited to talk to the current middle and upper school arts students.
“I get so inspired by being in a room of young people who love the theater,” Serafino said. “I can’t wait to talk to the students and learn about the work they’re doing.”
Mia will be honored at our Alumni Arts Hall of Fame ceremony on May 14, 2025.
