Liz Hader Weiner ‘87

I am an Inpatient Psychologist with the Federal Bureau of Prisons and I work with patients that were committed under federal statute because they are dangerous due to mental illness. I provide treatment, help them stabilize so they can be conditionally released to the community, and write risk assessment reports for court. I'm active in my synagogue, serving on the board as president twice, currently serving as past president, teaching religious school for the 13th year, singing in the choir and a bunch of other things. My husband and I live in rural Missouri, in the Bible Belt, which is where we raised our children. All of them were born here in Springfield.

Name of spouse, children's names/ages if applicable: Ray Weiner, Rachel (Weiner) Fox (26), Anna Weiner (24), Sam Weiner (20)

What’s your favorite time of year? Why? Fall, because of great weather and great visuals

What’s your greatest adventure to date? Three rounds of natural childbirth

Advice you would give your former self? Relax. It will all work out

Best decision you’ve ever made? Marrying my husband

Favorite memory of Cook Road: Becoming friends with Elaine and Lydia. My Russian History class.

Favorite Treat: Salty or Sweet? Anything with hot fudge. I'll eat it plain in a bowl.

Cats, dogs or no pets? Names of pets, if applicable! Boo Noodles, our rescue dog

Aside from necessities, what is one thing you couldn’t live without: My books. I have a stack of about 15 or so next to my favorite chair at all times, plus books on my phone, my computer, and audiobooks too.

What’s on your bucket list? I want to keep walking (my feet are in bad shape), and I'd like to have enough money to be able to take my kids, their partners and the grandkids on vacation as a group (domestic destinations only).

Name five things that make you happy: My husband, my kids, my job, Judaism and my synagogue memberships (I have two), and books. I love books!
